There is an ongoing discussion among scholars about the origin of the cult of Yahweh, how it emerged and spread. The typical features and attributives of YHWH can, however, be reconstructed with acceptable quality on the basis of the Hebrew Bible. These metaphors and topoi display a striking parallel with the terminology of the Canaanite religious universe, as they became known from Ugarit. The paper highlights some of these parallels, before turning to one of the most appealing fields of study of the religion of ancient Israel: the Asherah-enigma. The author hypothesises that in certain periods of the religion of ancient Israel, and in certain layers of their religious thought there could exist a cult of a fertility goddess (or goddesses), but by the second half of the Iron Age, asherah was transformed into an impersonal mediatory cultic object, used in the cult of YHWH and that of Baal as well.

The „oriental rite” in the title contains both the Orthodox and Greek Catholic church, well the Eucharisty is identic for all these two with the liturgy, namely „the divine liturgy of John Chriostomos”. Both the West and East accepts realpresence of Christ in the Eucharisty, but there are also differences. While the West approaches this mistery by the Aristotelian hylemorphism, that ist he systeme of materia-forma and the metaphysics (cf. transsubstantiatio), the East seeks and expresses the devotion not in the „seeing” but in the „falling on” (cf. proskynesis). According the oriental theology the main moment of the liturgy is the ascending of the Holy Spirit (cf. epiklesis). The Hungarian Greek Catholic church has a special opinion: the liturgy succeeds and recalls the total life of Lord Jesus, and so conducts us to a personal meeting with the risen Christ. In our community the liturgy is a part of the consecration of the day, of the time, of the liturgic year, this total process is a prolonging of the salvation’s history, it is a transgession to the final future.

A szöveg alapját a KU Leuven Egyetemen folyó modern muszlim gondolkodók kurzusára irányuló kutatásom szolgálta.

First I shall discuss about contemporary challenges: the concept of globalisation, modernity, and some famous slogan. Later on I shall present the changed concept of Shari’a and its relationship with the modern state, and the basic principle of Islamic thinking, namely: the public good. The further considerations will subject the family, the feminist movement, and the society. My main aim is to introduce the modern Muslim academic thinking through some famous scholar’s opinion, and to shed some light into the problems of nowadays.
The topic is extensive and ramifies into several aspects of life, therefore my work necessarily contains some imperfection, as the Persian arabesques – only God can create perfect. My research for Modern Muslim Thinkers course in KU Leuven University served as a basis of the text.
I would like to offer this work for seeking the unnameable God together, and as a thanksgiving to my professors: Emilio Platti and Mehdi Azaiez.

The focus of my thesis, the question I raise is this: What is the nature and the essential of the blessing that the Bible bears witness of? The meaning and the significance of blessing in Hungarian and in the biblical languages. The blessing in the whole Scripture as God’s gift that can be and must be passed on. The flow of blessing throughout the OT that comes to its fulfillment in the NT in Jesus Christ, who is the „Blessing of blessings”. Through Him receives the Church of our days God’s blessings. It is the casual services of our reformed church where it turns into a message, a personal promise. The church community thus becomes the space of blessing. The common blessing at the end of our church services then, at its core becomes an empowerment to represent Christ in the World. This way finds blessing its way through our church members to the families, to the people outside our communities. In our preparations for the services as counselors must be very clear about our responsibility in passing on blessing.

FEKETE CSABA:

Sinka György éneke

Ismeretlen a 17. század első felében élt költő élete.

György Sinka was a hymn writer who kept operating in the first half of the 17th century. All what we know is his name from his achrostich poem, Sinka Gyöergy, his life and activity are totaly unknown. Because the scarce sources he became mistakenly classified by 20th century experts as a sabbatical poet. The present study had collected the known data, corrected mistakes, explained the content and biblical background, and as well proposed the right text of his poem, that appeared in the earlier sources. I. e. in a roman catholic manuscript collection of 1651, and a reformed piety book, printed in 1678. The song survived not only in reformed and unitarian church hymnals and prayer books, and 19th century sabbatical manuscripts, but also had been preserved in unwriten oral tradition, including different folklore melodies. The best items of these also attached.
